Candle care
Please make sure you follow the instructions outlined below to ensure a safe, even and consistent burn every time you enjoy your new candle.
Placement
Ensure that you place your candle on a flat, stable and fire proof surface, far away from anything that is flammable. Do not place near an open window, a fan, an air vent or AC vent, or within reach of children or animals. You should always burn your candle within eyesight and never leave a burning candle unattended. Always burn any candle in a well ventilated room to avoid being overwhelmed by fragrances.
First burn
When lighting your candle for the first time its recommended to allow it to burn for at least one hour and up to two hours. This will create an even melt pool all the way to the edges and produce cleaner more consistent future burns while eliminating tunnelling in the centre of the candle.
Trimming
We recommend you trim you candle wick to about 5-7mm above the wax line prior to lighting your candle for each burn. Also be sure to remove any additional loose wick or sooting debris from the candle wax surface before burning to avoid uneven burns.
Moving
Do not attempt to move a lit candle. Always fully extinguish it first and allow it to completely cool before handling.
Extinguishing
When you have finished burning your candle it can simply be blown out or snuffed out to avoid smoking. Avoid handling the jar without safety rated heatproof gloves for at least 30 minutes after extinguishing as it will be hot.
Sooting
If you are finding that black soot deposits are accumulating on the inside of the jar surface, it will likely be due to the wick not being trimmed to 5-7mm, or debris from previous burns not being removed. You can simply wipe this soot deposit from the jar using a damp cloth or paper towel, then remove any debris and re trim the wick before you next light your candle.
Finishing your candle
When the wax has burnt down to approximately 5mm from the bottom of the inside of the jar then the candle is finished and you should not continuing to burn it any further.
